Temple Square

It was beautiful. The temple is gorgeous, the lights were pretty. But we must be Arizonians at heart because the Mesa temple lights put theirs to shame. Just saying. And we had to pay for parking and walk like a mile to get there. But it was still fun and I have never been to Temple Square at Christmas. My sister said there weren't as many lights as normal. There were lots of trees that were lacking.

Our Gratitude List

We read The Gratitude list in the November friend. , This made me realize all that we have to be thankful for. So many little things we take for granted everyday. Like a warm shower, comfy bed, heater at home and in the car, yummy smelling hand soap, toys, etc. It was fun to watch the girls get involved and be so excited to put another apple on everyday. Cooper even got in on it. He saw that Lindsay drew a picture of the Earth so every morning I would ask him and he would say My planet. So then I would say what else makes you happy. He said The Holy Ghost. He had a lesson on that like 4 months ago in nursery and always tells me the Holy Ghost makes him happy. How cute is that. So no matter how old you are, we all have so much to be grateful for. I love this time of year. And yes I am even thankful for the snow!

Gobble, Gobble

Gobble, Gobble said the turkey as he rubbed his hungry tummy.
"My Thanksgiving dinner is going to be yummy!"
Then he got out a fork and he got out his plate.
Now can you tell me what that little turkey ate?

Thanksgiving Day

We had a relaxing Thanksgiving day. We woke up and I decided to not eat breakfast because we had to be at Chuck A Rama (no I'm not kidding) at 10:30am. Cooper decided he had to eat so he didn't have a Thanksgiving lunch. Good thing he was free! We met my 2 uncle there and some of their kids and extended family. We had 23 people in our group. We ended up at our own round table. It was kind of nice. The girls were in heaven. They got to drink whatever they wanted. Well not everything. Daisy wanted a DP. But she settled with an ICEE. We stuffed ourselves silly. I wasn't expecting too much, but it was actually really good. I had everything I would ever want and then some for Thanksgiving lunch. When we all got dessert, Cooper decided he was hungry. For ice cream and a cupcake. We did get him to eat a corn bread muffin. It was pink so he thought it was a cupcake. All in all it was a fun get together. We sat around for awhile and visited with family. Lindsay took some good pics with my camera.

Uncle Kenn and Grandpa Hansen.

My cousin Casey and Aja.

My cousin Cheyenne's little girl, Ava. She wanted in on the picture taking.

Love the smiles.
We went over to Grandma & Grandpa's to visit Grandma. She didn't feel like going. We looked at the ads and decided we would sleep in on Black Friday. Then we went home. Some took naps, some just hung out. We ended the night off at Jillyn & Brandon's. They were in Santequin at Brandon's family. Jillyn made cookies for us and we played XBOX. We had alot of fun.

What am I going to do with you?

I told my mom this story and she was laughing and told me I needed to write this down on here since this is my journal. And she said I might not think it is funny now but will later. Not sure. Cause I am still a little annoyed. Notice Cooper is still wearing a diaper. The story is all about that. Cooper was literally wearing his last diaper. I so didn't want to buy anymore, but knew if I was going to potty train, I still needed some for night time. So off to Walmart we went. I go down the isle and show him all the underwear. We do have some but I was ready to buy a whole bunch so we could just sit at home for a week and get it over with. Here's how our convo went.
me: Look at all these cool underwear!
him: I not want underwear mom!
me: Mcqueen, Buzz, Thomas....
him: I not want underwear mom! You buy me diapers!!!!!!!!!!! (little louder)
me: We'll buy diapers for bed but you have to start wearing underwear and going in the potty when you are awake.
him: NO MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!! I. NOT. WEAR. UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
me: ok. let's go buy diapers.
We were causing a scene. So I put a pack of underwear in the cart without him seeing and we go get diapers. He was walking and when we saw the diapers, he had a big smile on his face. So we're on our way to check out and he wants to get in the back so I get him all situated, making sure the underwear is nowhere in sight. All of the sudden I hear, very loudly, as well as the whole dang store, "I NOT WANT UNDERWEAR MOM! I WEAR DIAPERS!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU NOT BUY ME UNDERWEAR!!!!!!!" And as he is saying this he chucks the underwear across the floor! I can just see all these eyes on me. I was so annoyed. So I had to pick them up and listen to my son all the way to the front, and as I'm checking out, how much he hates underwear and just wants to wear diapers.
I'm seriously at my wits end with this whole potty training. Who cares if he is going to be a Sunbeam in a couple of months. Oh well. He doesn't care that all his friends wear underwear. He thinks it's cool and tells them "Yea, I wear diapers." Like it's no big deal.

I love you Coop, but what am I going to do with you?
So if you have suggestions, let me know. We told him if he got potty trained we could go on the Polar Express. You know how obsessed he is about trains. He says, I can't go. I wear diapers. He screams when we try to put underwear on. We went and he picked out tons of prizes and made a sticker chart. He decided he didn't care if he got prizes or stickers. I;m gonna go crazy!

daisy & lindsay

I had parent teacher conferences for these 2 girls. They are both doing good in school and got good grades. And both of their teachers said they are a joy to have in class. That doesn't surprise me.
Daisy- She has a guy teacher this year and at first she wasn't thrilled about that idea. But now she loves it. And I love it cause he kind of takes away all the girl drama that happens in 4th grade. They have an excellent class and I loves the way he runs the classroom. They all have jobs and earn money. They have payday every week and he taxes them once a month! They get new jobs every month and they train each other on their new job. Her teacher told me how much he thinks of Daisy. He says she has a great head on her shoulder, is always smiling, has good leadership, and gets his jokes. he says he looks forward to seeing her everyday because sometimes she is the only one who actually laughs at his jokes. Good job Daisy. We are super proud of the young woman you are becoming! Keep up the good work.Lindsay- She has two teachers. They team teach. i love one of them and the other is an excellent teacher, she is just a little rough. Well she is the one I had the conference with. Lindsay is doing great. She is right on track and doing great, but what she said next just shocked me. She said that Lindsay is the biggest talker in class. Like she has had to actually stop teaching and wait for Lindsay to stop talking! At first I was laughing because I was just shocked. Then I realized she wasn't kidding and was kind of annoyed with me. I was so shy at that age that I never spoke a word. And if the teacher said something to me, I would have probably just cried right there. I knew Lindsay liked to talk and is always smiling and giggling, I just had no clue it was so out of control. But since the conferences, she has done really well. I have to remind her about it every morning on the way to school, and her teacher sends notes home on how she is doing. So far, she has been back on track. We love you Lindsay. I am so glad that you love school and have so many friends that you can talk to. (Just do it at lunch and recess!)

Sugar Cookies

Aunt Jillyn came over today after school to make sugar cookies with the kids. Daisy went to Achievement Days and Cooper just didn't care so it was pretty much just Lindsay. She was in heaven having all the attention. They were super yummy. Of course when it was time to frost and eat them, we were all there! Thanks Jillyn.

Too Soon?

I put my tree up tonight. I always wait until after Thanksgiving, but I was dying to put it up. I took Cooper over to my friends house and she already had hers up. So I got the box out after school and the girls were so excited! I just put up my "nice" decorations and I won't let them put on their unmatchy ornaments until after Thanksgiving. I want to enjoy my pretty, matchy tree for a couple of weeks.

First Snow!

Thursday morning Daisy came in my room and yelled, "It's snowing!" It was pretty exciting although it didn't last long. It melted all by Friday, but then on Saturday morning it started snowing again! It didn't last long either, but all day Lindsay kept asking me if I would go have a snowball fight with her. Just wait, there will be plenty of snow for that later.

This was my first "snow driving". Haha! I thought I did good though. I'm so nervous to drive in the snow!

Veteren's Day

My kids had school on Veteren's Day. Kind of weird. So Cooper and I went down to the school for lunch with the girls. Cooper thought he was so cool carrying his own Lightning McQueen lunchbox down the hall. We surprised the girls and they were excited to show off their little brother.
That night the weather was beautiful. The warm before the storm I guess. We raked leaves in the backyard and rode bikes and enjoyed our last warm night I'm sure for a long time.

What Dad's are good for..

A little extra padding for naps! HAHA! I came downstairs Sunday morning and Jeff was asleep and Cooper was laying on top of him drinking his milk!In other news... We learned to play FARKLE this weekend (thanks Genny) and we must have played it too much because Cooper was playing it last night. He would roll all the dice and put his hands up and yell, "FARKLE!" so funny.
